December 22, 2025 (Lexington/Omaha) – Lutheran Family Services (LFS) has helped hundreds of Lexington area individuals and families since the announced closure of the Tyson Foods plant. The Tyson plant employs approximately one-third of Lexington’s residents.
Within the past week, the office of US Senator Pete Ricketts commended the LFS Lexington team for their proactive leadership.
LFS continues to work closely with local Rapid Response to provide guidance and assistance with community resources, resume support, job search assistance, and mental health referrals. Most importantly, LFS Lexington has provided a safe space to listen to these families’ stories and stand with our community and provide meaningful, trustworthy support.
The LFS Lexington office is:
- Coordinating efforts to provide information and guidance. Fortunately, LFS Lexington added a new computer lab this year, which has been heavily used by job applicants
- Developing structured programs to answer questions to ensure no one falls through the cracks
- Collaborating with local organizations, volunteers, and professionals to maximize impact.
- Provide professional mental health support in person and through telehealth.
How you can help:
- Volunteer: Help us with outreach, events, or one-on-one support for the affected individuals.
