Family Centered Treatment

Family Centered Treatment (FCT) is an evidence-based trauma treatment model of home-based family therapies. FCT specialists work with families to set and pursue holistic goals related to family functioning, preservation, permanency, or reunification.

FCT identifies practical solutions for those faced with disruption or dissolution of the family due to external and/or internal circumstances such as child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, or juvenile justice.

  • This model is based on multiple therapeutic models and practices and has been in existence for over 25 years. Family Centered Treatment has a strong history of success as evidenced by its outcomes which include positive outcomes, completion outcomes, engagement outcomes and recognizing family voice. Although the model has 4 distinct phases with identified tasks it also provides and requires family individualization that leads to family growth and is not a “cookie cutter” model.

  • Referrals to the program must come from DHHS. They are currently being accepted in Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Lancaster counties. Once a referral is received the family is contacted within 48 hours. Staff members carry small caseloads to permit more interaction with each family. The hours are flexible to meet the family’s needs, and 24-hour crisis intervention is provided.
