Global Roots is a Lutheran Family Services (LFS) farming program for refugees and new populations. Since 2020, the program has supported its farmers by helping them grow their cultural foods and gain food security.
Global Roots Provides:
- Access to land. Each farmer gets to farm a 50 x 50-foot plot.
- In-the-field technical agricultural support. Our team assists farmers with production, pest management, soil health assessments, and harvesting.
- Access to tools and equipment.
- Development markets for crops.
Global Roots by the Numbers:
Since 2020, the program has resulted in the following:
- 200 + individuals enrolled.
- 6,000 pounds of food produced.
- 400+ family members who have access to nutritious food.
