LFS Story: Fremont Behavioral Health

“John” first came to us after experiencing a trauma-filled past. He had struggled with substance use and mental health battles, spending two years in rehab. Then, it got worse when he lost both of his parents.
His brother, here in Nebraska, went to get him. As you can imagine, John was in bad shape. On top of everything else, he lacked motivation, and the bureaucratic hurdles he faced were daunting.
John needed so much more than just a program. He needed someone to help him and give him real hope – he found Lutheran Family Services (LFS).
Our team addressed John’s situation in a coordinated and comprehensive way — ensuring his access to essential resources. LFS meticulously coordinated John’s medication management, even introducing bubble packs for accountability. The LFS team advocated for John, ultimately securing his dream of independent living.
Now settled in his new home, John feels he belongs and is empowered. He embraced peer support and his wellness journey and is thriving in Fremont.
Despite facing significant challenges, John found hope in his future, illustrating the life-changing impact of compassion and professional dedication. Today, John’s transformation is a beacon of hope that inspires us. We are so proud of him and every other individual we have the honor of serving here at LFS.
