The Young Families Initiative Program is a free program that focuses on prevention and early intervention services for expectant mothers and families with young children.

Participants learn healthy family behaviors through parent education and support, family and community awareness, and early detection and intervention for improved physical and mental health.

This program offers individual case management services focusing on client-driven goal setting to increase healthy parenting behaviors.

Families earn points for participating in activities that benefit their children – things like child and family health, safety, and self-sufficiency. Activities include:

  • Prenatal and well-baby checkups.
  • Early literacy programs and reading to their children.
  • Developmental screenings for their children.

With their “points,” families receive needed infant and toddler items such as diapers, hygiene items, clothing, children’s books, and car seats with earned points.

This programming also offers educational support to all families via group parenting classes, including the Nurturing Parenting Program® and Circle of Security™ curriculums. Program locations include Council Bluffs and Omaha.
