“HEARTLAND SALUTE” ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2018 IN GRAND ISLAND TO BENEFIT THE “NEBRASKA BUDDY CHECK” PROGRAM; CRITICAL SUPPORT PROVIDED TO ACTIVE & RETIRED MILITARY MEMBERS

Caring organizations will come together on Saturday September 8 to raise funds to support veterans and their families. The Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs Buddy Checks are social gatherings of veterans dedicated to reducing and eliminating veteran suicide.

“Heartland Salute” will kick off at 10:00 a.m. at Grand Island’s Heartland Lutheran High School (3900 W. Husker Highway) with events that run through 6:00 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the Nebraska Buddy Check Program, which is operated by the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs.

The events include a poker run that starts at 10:00 a.m., and a car show at noon. Food and a cash bar will be provided by the Wave Pizza Co. & Sin City Grill. The Huskers game will be on the big screen. The Nebraska National Guard will provide a bouncy house and snow cones will be on sale by “The Snow”.

Live music begins at 7:00 p.m., courtesy of “The Steven Adams Band” and “Luke Mills and the Highway Drifters”.
