NEWS RELEASE: 2018 “NURTURING PARENTING PROGRAM®

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa
July 30, 2018

Lutheran Family Services’ Pottawattamie County Center for Healthy Families® at 300 West Broadway, Suite 7, in Council Bluffs, Iowa will offer no-cost classes in the Nurturing Parenting Program® to families expecting a new child and those with children under age five.

Classes will begin on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the center from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Participants will meet every Tuesday for 16 weeks until November 20, 2018.

The course is designed to empower individuals and families with new knowledge, beliefs, strategies and skills to make safe and healthy lifestyle choices and to adopt positive parenting behaviors.

Research shows children who have strong bonds with their parents have better lifelong emotional health.

Susan Pawloski, center coordinator, has seen first-hand the transformation in parents who complete the classes. “These moms and dads are learning some very powerful lessons on how to connect with their children and how to change their behavior in positive ways” says Pawloski.

The classes are free to participants, thanks to funding from Promise Partners and United Way of the Midlands.
