Buddy Check Program Helps Veterans Fight Battles at Home
July Meetup to Build Bonds between Veterans
WHAT: On July 22, 2017, Nebraska Buddy Check – a program aimed at building a support system for veterans and active military members through networking and comradery – will provide veterans and their loved ones with a free day at the lake that will include fishing, kayaking, live music and more.
Each day, 22 veterans die by suicide. As a way for veterans to stand together to help each other fight their personal battles, Nebraska Buddy Check organizes social meetups on the 22nd of each month for veterans across the state. By connecting veterans who have had similar experiences, the program provides veterans care and support for one another. In addition to meeting other veterans, professional counseling and help is available through Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska’s (LFS) At Ease program. Nebraska Buddy Check is a program of LFS At Ease.
