OMAHA, Neb. (September 28, 2015) – Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) is pleased to announce its recent hire of Sharon Robino-West to the position of  program manager for At Ease, a program serving veterans, active military and their loved ones.

Robino-West most recently served as the Self-Sufficiency and Military Program Manager for the Women’s Center for Advancement. There, she established a program assisting women affected by military sexual trauma and those transitioning from military to civilian life. Prior to this, she worked as the lead program specialist for the At Ease program from 2011 to 2013.

“Sharon has always been a strong advocate for women and service members,” said Todd Reckling, vice president of program for LFS.  “She has years of demonstrated leadership. Her knowledge, expertise, experience and passion for serving our heroes and all in need will truly enhance our At Ease program.”

An Omaha native, she began her career in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the field during the Beirut Barracks Bombing in Beirut, Lebanon on October 23, 1983. She was awards two Meritorious Masts for her service and recommended for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

A graduate of Bellevue University, Robino-West earned both a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s in leadership. She is certified through the Nebraska Office of Consumer Affairs to provide trauma-informed Intentional Peer Support. In addition to her professional experience and training, being a veteran and the mother of a combat veteran has given her unique insight into the challenges service men and women face, she said.

“It is an honor continuing my military service as a veteran in the service of others. Working with active duty service members, veterans and their family members is my passion,” she said.  “I hope to increase awareness of the At Ease program in the state of Nebraska and the surrounding regional areas. I plan to serve as many veterans as possible, including those from marginalized communities, such as women veterans, justice involved veterans and those with bad paper.”
