OMAHA, Neb. (September 25, 2015) – Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) will hold a Foster Care Bike Rodeo on Saturday, September 26 in the parking lot of its downtown location on 24th and Dodge streets. The event promotes healthy and active childhoods for youth in foster care.
Staff anticipate 40 to 80 people attending this first ever bike event. Over the last two months, LFS foster care staff and volunteers have collected used bicycles and raised over $750 for new bicycle helmets. Enough donations were raised, so that all attending foster youth will receive a free bicycle and helmet.
The event will include outdoor games, an obstacle course and lunch. Participants will learn about bicycle repair from volunteers and receive safety training from law enforcement officers.
