OMAHA, Neb. (August 18, 2015) – Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) is pleased to announce its recent hire of Adam Armstrong, who will join the At Ease program as a veteran peer support specialist in Grand Island, Nebraska. Armstrong joins Ryan Kaufman in this role, serving the needs of veterans and military families throughout Central Nebraska.

Armstrong is a native Nebraskan born in Paxton, but considers Grand Island to be home.  He entered the United States Air Force in 2002 and served on active duty until 2006. He then transferred to the Nebraska Air National Guard, where he served until 2010.  During this time, Adam was deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Upon his separation from the military, Adam returned to the Middle East for one year as a contractor in both Kuwait and Iraq.

Armstrong is enthusiastic about his new role at LFS. “I am blessed to have this opportunity,” he said. “I look forward to continue using my skills within the veteran community, taking into account each individual’s goals and helping them on the path to success.”

Before working for LFS, Armstrong served as veterans outreach coordinator for Central Community College at its Hastings, Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington sites. This experience gave Armstrong unique insight into the needs of Central Nebraska’s veteran population.

“He has a nose for community support, meeting the needs of veterans where they are,” said Kaufman. “I look forward to passing along his expertise to our valued community partners.”

For more information, contact Armstrong at (308) 382-4255 or aarmstrong@lfsneb.org.
