July 22, 2014 (Omaha, Nebraska) – On Sunday, September 14, Lutheran Family Services (LFS) will recognize those community leaders whose actions demonstrate their commitment to faith-based values and humble service. This year’s Faith in Action: Hope Restored event will have a special focus on mental wellness and those who support the journey to recovery. LFS is one of the largest providers of outpatient mental health services in the state, serving 5,112 Nebraskans last year.
Among the honorees this year: Deryl and Ramona Hamann, who will be recognized for setting a lifetime standard of humble servant leadership, and for their tremendous commitment of time, talent and treasure to those in need.
The event will also honor Bill and Evonne Williams and the Omaha Police Department. The Williamses are being recognized as Volunteers of the Year for their passion and commitment to insure the sacrifice and service of veterans and their families is remembered and honored. The Omaha Police Department is being named Community Partner of the Year for building strong collaborative partnerships that improve the outcomes for the most vulnerable in our communities. OPD works closely with LFS in cases involving abused children and those in mental health crisis.
Until now, LFS has only honored one person with a Lifetime Achievement Award for service to LFS. This year, the second honoree is Roxanne Koenig, a 20-year LFS employee. Roxanne is being honored for her dedication to community safety through the treatment and prevention of sexual abuse.
Faith in Action: Hope Restored will be held at Indian Creek Golf Course, near 202nd and Maple Street. Cocktails at 5:00pm; dinner and program at 6:00 pm. Reservations are required and available at www.lfsneb.org.
