Impact Stories

If I said it a thousand times, I don’t think I could express how thankful I am [for LFS].
“When I came to Dana Village, they gave me a place to live. They covered my security deposit, all sorts of things, so that I could get set up, get a job. They helped me keep a roof over my head. They provide me with resources for therapy and medication, helped me find a job in the community and we utilize the food pantry still.”
“I wouldn’t be here were I’m at today with a new car, great job, a great life, with everything that I have if it wasn’t for LFS and the contribution of the donors. What I’ve gained from my experience with LFS, I’ll treasure it.”
– Grace, Former Foster Child & Dana Village resident

I feel like it’s a part of me
“Giving grain means more to me than just writing a check. It’s personal and tangible. I feel like it’s a part of me – something I can think about from planting to harvest. I appreciate that it allows me to have a personal connection with the people I’m helping through my gift of grain.”
– Rick Hilgenkamp, LFS Donor

Through my mistakes, I just couldn’t stay out of jail. I came to LFS’ Fatherhood Initiative to see my daughter.
“Just going through the nurturing fathers class opened up my mind to so many different tools, so many areas of my life that I didn’t even realize I was struggling with. They helped me realize where some of these feelings are coming from and how I can overcome them.”
– Aaron, LFS Fatherhood Initiative participant
