50th Anniversary of Refugee Services

As the Vietnam War ended in 1975, LFS launched its Refugee Resettlement Services. Over the past 50 years, what began as a commitment to help those in need has evolved into one of the largest resettlement agencies in Nebraska.

Although new arrivals and funding stopped in January, we will continue to support our current clients. To help us, please consider a gift.

Our services include:

  • Economic Empowerment
  • Interpretation Services
  • Job Coaching and Connection
  • Refugee Reception and Placement
  • Refugee Support Program

In 2025, we will honor and celebrate those who have earned their citizenship and made Nebraska their home over the past fifty years. We feel fortunate to be a part of their journeys and are overjoyed by all they have achieved.

January is Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month

This month, the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has launched the first national Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the benefits and availability of evidence-based treatments for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Many view January as an opportunity to reflect, reset, and take steps towards healthier living. It is a perfect time to highlight information and resources that can support treatment and recovery from substance use disorders.
